CAPPED Mission Statements: 1. To Make New Mexico #1 in the Nation in the Primary Prevention of Cancer. 2. To create a healing environment where chronic stress is addressed in a holistic manner and clients receive the tools necessary for self-healing. CAPPED was born of the needs of cancer patients in rural New Mexico in 2000. “Even the Strongest People are Overwhelmed when faced with MAJOR ILLNESS, TOXIC STRESS OR CHRONIC PAIN. At CAPPED, we understand and together we develop a plan to help you recognize the “Treasures” in your life and claim the Joy in each day! Chronic Stress is the #1 Killer in the World Today. We are seeing a huge increase of people experiencing severe stress overload exhibited as depression, substance abuse, exhaustion and hopelessness. Research has shown the “Simple Act of Walking a Labyrinth” reduces stress by 80%. Our Vision: A World without Cancer and Other Preventable Disease. What better way to impact our Vision than to build Labyrinth Parks. Our Programs: The Three Pillars of CAPPED · CAPPED Walk-In Prevention and Support Center (addressing Major Disease) Open 10-5 Tues-Fri · Programs and Services: 1. Community Outreach Programs, 2. Health Fairs, 3. CAPPED Community Conference room, 4. CAPPED Center for Integrative Wellness, 5. Children’s Community education programs for Stress Reduction (planning now). By providing our children with non-chemical, holistic solutions to stress management, we provide a toolbox they can use for a lifetime. · Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Park (TTHLP) (addressing Toxic Stress) The 75 ft Children’s Labyrinth is the head of the turtle at Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Park. Solar lights make it safe to walk 24 hrs/day, 7 days a week. This is a built, self-service environment for stress reduction. Families are finding walking a labyrinth is a healthy, age appropriate activity for everyone. The body and tail labyrinths are currently under construction thanks to a Grant provided through the NM-EDD-ORT. When finished, New Mexico’s Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Park will be the LARGEST PERMANENT LABYRINTH IN THE WORLD! CAPPED Center for Integrative Wellness (addressing Chronic Pain) Working with complimentary modalities we help our clients rediscover the treasures in their lives and harvest the “Joy” in each day! Note from CAPPED Board of Directors: Cancer Awareness Prevalence Prevention and Early Detection, CAPPED, is in the process of changing its name to Center Advancing Primary Prevention through Enlightened Decisions; CAPPED. Over the past 20 years, CAPPED has continually evolved to meet the needs of our communities. The name change more accurately represents our global purpose and objectives. While cancer prevention continues to be important, management of chronic stress, pain and living with chronic illness and disabilities are better expressed within this broader mission statement. New programs are designed to be diverse and inclusive of all. Our mission continues to promote healthy, positive, enlightened choices.
