Each year, the conference rotates locations throughout the state, highlighting New Mexico’s diverse outdoor opportunities and economic potential. The 2026 Outdoor Economics Conference will take place October 14-16 at the Ruidoso Convention Center. This year’s conference brings together outdoor recreation leaders, Tribal representatives, business owners and community partners to explore everything from accessible recreation and outdoor infrastructure to tourism, stewardship, youth programs and the future of New Mexico’s outdoor economy. Between sessions, attendees can get outside and experience Ruidoso with guided hikes, mountain biking, horseback riding, paddling, ziplining and other local adventures.
