Sandoval County
$202,500

This proposal advocates for the construction of a 4-unit unisex public bathroom in La Entrada Park, Corrales, which currently lacks such amenities. The provision of the restroom aims to invigorate community engagement through increased usage of outdoor spaces and trails, boost tourism, and facilitate more events in the park including concerts, weddings, and art sales. In addition to enhancing the park's appeal, this initiative will benefit the Corrales Bosque Preserve trail users and promote the area as a hub for horse-riders and bird-watchers linking with the setting-up of signage, updating the site development plan, and the future interior drain recreation and learning area project.

Total Grants Awarded: $202,500

The Village of Corrales was incorporated in 1971 but has history going hundreds of years back our Seal shows a founding date of 1750.Corrales is known for its rural sitting while being between Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. We have pride in our nature, open spaces, Corrales Bosque and areas like the irrigation ditches to walk, ride bikes and horses. The Village of Corrales has been working on adding multiple land purchases and one building purchase within the commercial/business district, to attract visitors to Corrales and to hold activities and events and parking to increase tourism and access to recreation. One of the purchases was a 3-acre lot adjacent to the La Entrada Park and across the road from the Village Complex. La Entrada Park is in the heart of the Corrales business district. Corrales’ business district runs north south along Corrales Road from West meadowlark to Dixon ( 1.3 miles) . La Entrada Park is right in the middle of the business area at 0.65 miles from both ends. The Village already owned 5 acres behind the recently purchased 3. The 5 acres are dedicated for open space and work is under way to expand the park into part of the dedicated 5 acres as well as a walking path. We built a new gym at our recreation center. We have a planner working on a plan to connect all of our owned properties with paths to make the Village a walkable area to help increase outdoor activity and bring people into Corrales. We also have a project looking at redesigning an old MRGCD drain into a recreation area with natural vegetation and learning centers. Corrales Mainstreet is completing all items needed to make Corrales an Arts and Cultural District. Citizens want us to make sure we honor the ruralness, the culture and the ability to be outdoors when we do municipal projects
