Carrizozo Works, Inc. (CWI) aims to enhance outdoor recreation in south-central New Mexico by promoting local activities and fostering environmental education through partnerships with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the United States Forest Service (USFS). This initiative seeks to engage both residents and visitors in appreciating and responsibly enjoying the region's natural beauty, ultimately leading to increased tourism and community stewardship of the landscape.
Carrizozo Works, Inc., in partnership with the Town of Carrizozo, will enhance the 2.25-mile nature walk by installing six outdoor benches, ten interpretive signs, and two welcome signs by fall 2023. This initiative will provide resting spots for visitors and educational information about the local flora and fauna, fostering community engagement and solidifying Carrizozo's emerging identity as an artistic hub.
Carrizozo Works, Inc. (CWI) was incorporated in 2008 to improve the quality of life in Carrizozo, New Mexico by combining community development and cultural diversity with strategic planning to encourage economic growth. Since that time, CWI has championed a variety of local organizations and is the economic development driver serving the Town of Carrizozo. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, CWI is listed with the New Mexico Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Organizations. The organization is committed to transparent accountability, open communication while developing a sense of community and supportive business environment.
