Pie Town Community Foundation was created FY 2023 to organize services to our local and greater community. To provide an umbrella for other community organizations to operate under to provide community services and events. One of those organizations is Big Strike Horse Show Management. BSHSM strives to offer opportunities to the youth of Catron county interested in equine activities and career-oriented equine services. Providing mentorship from equestrians with a combined 38 years of experience in equine management, facility management, ranch management, showing at the collegiate level and training at the professional level as well as outdoor recreation specialist in the equine field and event management teams for DOD, US Army. PTCF was started to fill a gap in Catron County as there are very few organizations offering outdoor recreation programs. This year we organized and produced the Catron county horse show for the Catron county fair board, as they were not going to have the show because no one was interested in volunteering for the show. PTCF recently provided Christmas dinner for the community of Pie Town, we delivered meals to those unable to leave their homes and some of the community members told us if we had not held dinner and entertainment they wouldn’t have a Christmas. Those are our success in a short period of time. We hope to continue our work both with the youth and elders of our community. Our hope is to one day bring the two generations to gather to share stories and take walks in the woods.
