The City of Deming has recognized the opportunity to enhance the impact of Trees Lake to the southwest region by expanding the project to include a variety of amenities and site upgrades. The city has been committed to the development of its outdoor recreational opportunities over the past 10 year with over 9 million dollars invested in the development of the 40-acre greater Trees Lake area. This includes the building of an awarded all-inclusive park the first of its kind to be awarded under the state of New Mexico’s Community Development and Building Block grant in the amount of $675,000. Most recently we have just successfully completed our second season at the newly completed Inflatable Waterpark. This project was built on a 2-acre parcel residing in the Tree’s Lake area, its strategic positioning directly by Highway I-10 has made this a tourist hub for families in the southwest region and the more than 30,000 plus travelers traveling along the I/10 corridor. Over the last year the Inflatable Waterpark has generated over $100,000 in revenue, exemplifying the success of investments in the outdoors. The building of this park was funded by the NMDFA through their Quality-of-Life grant program with a total award amount of $1,157,600. This has become the defined mission of the City of Deming and its Community Services Department, to provide the most diverse, immersive, and safe experience with the outdoors and it recreation areas for those living in the City and the greater Luna County area.
