The City of Albuquerque plans to enhance local disc golf facilities to increase access and participation in the sport. This initiative includes building a new 20-hole championship course, upgrading the existing Brent Baca Memorial Course, and adding a 12-hole course in an underserved area, thereby fostering community engagement and promoting healthier recreational activities.
The City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department is developing a 24-mile multi-use trail system on Open Space lands near Petroglyph National Monument to enhance recreational opportunities for mountain bikers and equestrian users. This initiative will address the current trail deficiency on the city’s West Mesa, promoting community engagement and enjoyment of the natural environment.
The City of Albuquerque’s Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining nearly 300 parks, 150 miles of multi-use trails, more than 30,000 acres of Major Public Open Space, four municipal golf courses, and numerous aquatics and recreation facilities throughout Albuquerque. Hundreds of employees across six divisions within the Department take pride in ensuring Albuquerque residents have great facilities to foster a vibrant and healthy community.
