Located on the I-40 corridor, thirty-nine miles east of Albuquerque, the city is a common destination for travelers traversing the state and for residents of nearby towns who access the interstate via exit-194. One of the City’s primary goals have revolved around developing the community to improve the safety of its residents. Public works projects that have recently been completed or are in progress that contribute to this goal are construction of a new fire station, improvements to the City Civic Center, and various water transmission projects that are improving the city’s water delivery system and extending city services to rural areas. As it has begun to budget for and seek out alternative funding sources for projects, the city has been able to also prioritize expanding its recreational spaces and programs to the benefit of its citizens.
