Indigenous Futures 4EVER
Grants Awarded
The Two Grey Hills Skatepark serves as a safe, positive space for youth and families in the Navajo Nation. To make the park more accessible and family-friendly, Indigenous Futures 4EVER will add shade structures, bathrooms, water access, benches, and trash cans. These improvements will support community use, increase engagement, and promote environmental sustainability.
Established in 2024, the weekly skateboard classes at Two Grey Hills Skatepark in New Mexico, funded by the Outdoors Equity Fund, empower Navajo youth through outdoor recreation, community-binding, and personal growth. This joint initiative by Indigenous Futures 4EVER and Make Life Skate Life not only promotes physical health but also nurtures essential life skills, instilling discipline, perseverance, and creativity among kids. With an eye on future expansion, the program plans to increase classes, provide free transportation, conduct workshops in local schools, improve skate gear access, and strategize for long-term sustainability, thereby ensuring Native youth continuous, valuable access to outdoor activities that support their comprehensive wellbeing.
