El Rito Public Library
Grants Awarded
The initiative is geared towards fostering an appreciation of nature and cultural heritage in children aged 5-18 from the underprivileged communities of El Rito and neighboring towns in a 25-mile radius. By conducting outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and engaging with local heritage sites, the program is designed to promote environmental care, self-realization through new experiences, and strengthen community bonds. The planned expeditions aim to enhance participants' understanding of local history in relation to geography and climate while fostering their well-being, confidence, and social connectivity. Activities are scheduled to take place between Spring and Fall of 2026, leveraging the El Rito Library as the meeting point and relying on available funding.
