Forest Bound offers underserved New Mexico high school students immersive, tribal-partnered summer education emphasizing native plant ecology, conservation, and land stewardship. Using a Two-Eyed Seeing framework that appreciates Indigenous and Western knowledge systems, students participate in hands-on eco-activities, indigenous language learning, intergenerational conversations and are eligible for subsequent employment opportunities with the Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE). Expansion plans seek to triple the number of culturally resonant, tribally-coordinated sessions by the summer of 2026, requiring additional funding due to changes in U.S. Forest Service conservation education financing.

Total Grants Awarded: $28,500
