Diné Devo enhances the social, emotional, and cognitive health of reservation youth through outdoor cycling programs, emphasizing community engagement and youth empowerment. The program nurtures skills through hands-on bicycle maintenance workshops and aims to increase physical activity among 5th to 8th-grade students by conducting an eight-week program for up to 80 cycling participants. Collaborating with local schools, the Navajo Nation and International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA), this initiative leverages national expertise and local leadership to promote youth cycling, which has proven benefits in cardiovascular fitness, mental health, and social skills development, particularly beneficial given the prevalent health challenges in the American Indian youth population.
