Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad
Grants Awarded
The Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad's Outdoor Explorers Program gives underprivileged children aged 6-18 an opportunity to experience, learn from, and appreciate nature through environmental education and outdoor activities on New Mexico's public lands. The program plans four seasonal outdoor excursions annually, ensuring safe travel, meals, and equipment for 200 children, offering experiences that enhance understanding of various ecosystems and simultaneously build physical fitness and life skills like leadership. By offering free and safe excursions, the program empowers kids to connect with nature, understand the environment, and develop as responsible citizens with a deep appreciation for their natural surroundings.
Founded in 1961, the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and enabling all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. For more than 60 years, the Club has provided a safe, positive environment where youth can learn, grow, and thrive through high-quality after-school and summer programming. The Club serves hundreds of children and teens annually through programs focused on academic success, character and leadership development, healthy lifestyles, arts, and recreation. We are committed to ensuring that all youth have access to safe spaces, caring mentors, and opportunities that help them build lifelong skills. BGCCarlsbad is governed by a local Board of Directors and supported through a diverse mix of funding sources, including individual and corporate donations, foundation and government grants, special events, community fundraising, program fees, and partnerships with local businesses and organizations. This broad base of community support enables us to provide affordable, high-impact programming for youth and families throughout the Carlsbad area. A significant recent accomplishment was achieving state certification and licensure for all three Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad locations. This milestone allows eligible families to utilize New Mexico Child Care Assistance, making it possible for all children to attend the Club at no cost. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to removing barriers to opportunity, expanding access to enriching experiences, and empowering every young person to become a healthy, responsible, and engaged member of our community.
