Fly With Me - Chama Valley Youth Fly Fishing & Conservation Program is a program that enriches middle school students with outdoor education and conservation skills through fly fishing in New Mexico's rivers and public lands. The initiative eliminates financial and geographic obstacles by delivering free teaching, gear, transportation, and practical learning experiences, facilitating the study of the Rio Chama watershed's ecology and engagement in stewardship activities. This program, supported by the Outdoor Equity Fund, nurtures an appreciation for cultural and environmental importance, promotes equitable outdoor recreation access, enhances confidence, leadership, physical and mental health, and cultivates future conservation pioneers amongst students from Chama, Tierra Amarilla, Canjilon, and nearby rural societies.

Our primary funding comes from grants, corporate and foundation partnerships, local business sponsorships, and individual donors. Recent accomplishments include expanding the New Mexico PED Summer Reading Program to three communities, launching after-school STEAM and outdoor learning opportunities, developing youth conservation and Acequia stewardship initiatives, hosting community engagement events, and building partnerships with organizations including the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation, Chama Peak Land Alliance, Transform Education New Mexico, NMOST, and numerous local schools and community organizations.
