The Ramah Navajo community has experienced population growth, within our boundaries, in the past five years. Our Chapter Officials and staff, in response to this growth, have developed a priority list of needed improvements to our community’s outdoor spaces infrastructure. The selected project is our highest priority. Our goal is to provide outdoor infrastructure to encourage healthy habits, nature walks with elders and community gatherings within a safe and beautiful environment. We are proposing to build a nature trail that allows for safe terrain for running, walking, mountain biking and snow tubing in the winter. The trail will have a lower and upper loop, with name/use markers for indigenous plants, two picnic shelters with all-weather tables, rest benches, one group shelter with a cooking grill/fire pit and a parking area. Ramah Chapter’s goal is to enhance the quality of life and public health of the residents within its chapter boundaries. We strive to achieve this goal by taking advantage of available funding sources and creating partnerships with Navajo Nation, State and Federal entities and by working to keep our existing facilities.
