This funding will support one full-time Habitat Stewardship Coordinator who will be focused solely on the inventory, modification and removal of fences on BLM lands in areas of identified need within the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument (RGdN NM). This position would oversee the planning and execution of 5 volunteer projects over a 14 month period to cultivate new and invested public land stewards. This position would be supported by BHA's Regional Stewardship & Habitat Connectivity Manager to amplify community engagement and outreach, and maximize the impact of BHA's stewardship program in New Mexico and across North America.
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) is a non-partisan nonprofit dedicated to protecting North America’s hunting and fishing heritage through stewardship, advocacy, and education focused on wild public lands and waters. In New Mexico, BHA’s chapter mobilizes passionate volunteers to improve habitat, restore ecosystems, and partner with agencies on boots-on-the-ground projects—like recent fencing removals in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument and the rugged slopes of Rimrock Mountain.
