CAPPED, Inc. (Cancer Awareness, Prevalence, Prevention and Early Detection)
Grants Awarded
CAPPED aims to empower disabled and disadvantaged youth by providing a transformative experience in the New Mexico (NM) desert through a planned daytrip to Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Park. Participants will engage in educational activities, share stories, and enjoy nature while fostering a sense of community, leading to increased knowledge and appreciation of their environment. Ultimately, the program seeks to enhance participants' well-being and connect them to the beauty of their local landscape.
The CAPPED project seeks to complete the Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Park (TTHLP), establishing the largest permanent labyrinth park in the United States. This accessible 40,000 sq. ft. space will not only serve as a path for health and wellness but also as an educational hub that highlights the cultural and recreational opportunities of the Tularosa Basin. By fostering community engagement through events and informative signage, the project will enhance the well-being of participants and promote local tourism.
CAPPED will finalize the Trinity Turtle Healing Labyrinth Phase III, establishing the largest permanent labyrinth in the United States, spanning 40,000 square feet. This ADA-accessible space will serve as both a tranquil environment for healing and a versatile open-air amphitheater and learning center, promoting community engagement and well-being.

Note from CAPPED Board of Directors: Cancer Awareness Prevalence Prevention and Early Detection, CAPPED, is in the process of changing its name to Center Advancing Primary Prevention through Enlightened Decisions; CAPPED. Over the past 20 years, CAPPED has continually evolved to meet the needs of our communities. The name change more accurately represents our global purpose and objectives. While cancer prevention continues to be important, management of chronic stress, pain and living with chronic illness and disabilities are better expressed within this broader mission statement.
