The Acequia Education Trails Project is designed to enhance accessibility, connectivity, and safety for the Pajarito Acequia while promoting it as an educational open space through interactive signage. This initiative is expected to increase physical activity among participants and foster intercultural education related to the region's cultural history, ultimately benefiting the health and cohesion of the local community.
CESOSS’ Acequia Education program seeks to strengthen connections between people, water, and land in the South Valley by expanding its initiatives to include the Pajarito Landmarks Project and the Ciclos de la Tierra Curriculum. These culturally relevant programs aim to engage younger audiences with their family's history and ecological diversity, fostering a renewed passion for preserving acequia culture and history in the community.
CESOSS is a community-based nonprofit organization whose main goal is to organize the community so that we may empower and preserve the traditions and science-based practices of local and Indigenous communities, related to land and water. Our vision is to create sustainable, healthy, and thriving communities where traditions connected to land and water are protected, preserved, and passed onto future generations.
