The City of Belen proposes the development of a pump track adjacent to the City’s existing skatepark, creating a cohesive, multi-use outdoor recreation destination that supports youth engagement, physical activity, and inclusive community spaces. By co-locating the pump track with existing amenities, the project builds on prior public investment while expanding recreational opportunities for a wide range of users, including cyclists, skateboarders, scooter riders, and families. The primary goal of this project is to complete a conceptual design that is site-responsive, safe, and scalable. The design process will be led by American Ramp Company and will include collaborative engagement with City staff to identify a preferred design theme, evaluate site opportunities and constraints, and ensure thoughtful integration with existing park infrastructure. Key considerations will include access and circulation, spectator viewing areas, drainage and grading, user safety, and compatibility with surrounding amenities. A secondary goal is to position the City for future construction funding by producing high-quality visual and technical deliverables. The conceptual design will undergo multiple revisions to align with community goals, site conditions, and budget parameters. Final deliverables will include 2D layouts and 3D renderings that clearly communicate the vision of the project, along with a detailed construction cost estimate broken into individual zones to allow for phased implementation if needed. Through this project, the City of Belen aims to strengthen its recreational infrastructure, promote healthy and active lifestyles, and create a durable, well-planned facility that can be implemented efficiently when construction funding becomes available.
