The City of Truth or Consequences will enhance Ralph Edwards Park along the Rio Grande to improve accessibility and enjoyment for residents and tourists. Upgrades such as improved trailhead signage, a new boat access ramp and dock, and shade structures will create a safer, more comfortable environment for activities like fishing, picnicking, and exercise, ultimately fostering community engagement and outdoor enjoyment.
The City of Truth or Consequences (T or C), New Mexico, also known as Palomas Hot Springs or Hot Springs, New Mexico, lies in the Rio Grande Valley in southern New Mexico. This small town was incorporated in 1916 as Hot Springs, New Mexico. In 1950, the City entered Ralph Edwards’s Truth or Consequences show, which had a contest to find a town that would change its name to Truth or Consequences. On March 31, 1950, the town voted to change its name. Current events in the City include the Truth or Consequences Fiesta and the Sierra County Farmers Market. The City is also well-known for its hot mineral springs and recreational opportunities, including water sports, hiking, eco-tours, fishing, and much more.
