El Rancho de las Golondrinas
Grants Awarded
El Rancho de las Golondrinas is enhancing its historic museum property by adding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible routes and an improved wayfinding system featuring universal symbols and Spanish translations. This initiative will promote equitable access, enrich educational experiences, and improve health and safety for all visitors navigating the trail networks.
The project involves enhancing the visitor's experience at the museum by creating safe and equitable ADA-accessible routes throughout the property, improving trail network, and enhancing educational opportunities through greater accessibility and new programs. The upgrades aim at respecting the historic and ecological significance of the site, where archaeological and environmental considerations were taken into account during the design phase, completed in summer 2024. The next milestone is the construction of the Upper Wetland Loop Trail, set to begin with the help of requested funding from the Outdoor Equity Fund and other donations, ensuring an improved, comprehensive and uniform look of the museum's wayfinding and interpretive signage.
