El Rancho de las Golondrinas is enhancing its historic museum property by adding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible routes and an improved wayfinding system featuring universal symbols and Spanish translations. This initiative will promote equitable access, enrich educational experiences, and improve health and safety for all visitors navigating the trail networks.

The project aspires to enhance equitable and ADA-accessible routes throughout the Museum, increase access to historically and ecologically important landscapes, expand trail networks, provide fresh educational experiences, clear site interpretation and navigation, while maintaining respect for the site's historical and ecological aspects. Initial steps included trail upgrades and wayfinding locations, with funding from the Outdoor Trails + Recreation Division and others, involving landscape architecture firm Surroundings, environmental firm Biohabitats, archaeologists, and graphic experts from CW & H Graphics. The next step is the construction of the Upper Wetlands Loop Trail, an about one-mile trail, seeking $99,999 from the Outdoor Equity Fund to assist with costs, to be matched with individual, corporate, and private family foundation donations.
