The Friends of Sugarite Canyon State Park is a storied organization and has been in existence for decades. Our Mission: To support Sugarite Canyon State Park and New Mexico State Parks in their mission to protect and enhance natural and cultural resources, provide first-class recreational and education facilities and opportunities, and promote public safety to benefit and enrich the lives of visitors. Our members focus on 4 different efforts to support the park and promote regional outdoor recreation. These include Special Projects (fish stocking, trail signage, trail construction), Events (Polar Plunge, fishing derby, Christmas on the Chicorica, Master of the Mountains Adventure Relay), Fundraising (to support events and projects) and Membership Recruitment and Retention. We have approximately 60 members who meet quarterly with a Board of Directors that meets monthly.
