Glorieta is a Christian outdoor adventure camp in the foothills of the Southern Rockies near Santa Fe, NM. Founded in 1949, Glorieta Camp and Conference Center was a beloved retreat destination for tens of thousands of people. In 2013, a group of Christian business leaders and philanthropists purchased this extraordinary property and established Glorieta 2.0 – a brand new entity whose mission is to transform lives through outdoor adventure for Christ-like change. Each year we welcome over 33,000 people, the majority youth under the age of 18, to experience outdoor adventure through our core programming of Family Camp, Day Camp, and Conferences and Retreats. Glorieta currently serves youth and adults from across a region that primarily encompasses New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Our location in northern New Mexico also allows us to reach out to local communities that are seriously impacted by limited education, poverty, substance abuse, family violence, abuse and crime. While the main campus of our property is limited to camp guests, we strongly value outdoor adventure and strive to connect the general public to the rest of our over 2,000 acres to experience high-quality and free outdoor recreation opportunities that are engaging for a diverse range of individuals. We want to share the joys of nature and outdoor recreation with the families, youth, and communities who are our local and regional neighbors. Through our existing 25+ mile trail system, we primarily attract hikers and mountain bikers ranging from the casual beginner to the extreme sports enthusiast. In the last several years, we have expanded the trail system and welcomed thousands of day-use individuals, especially through partnerships with Zia Rides Endurance events, Revolution Enduro events, training clinics for new riders and general Glorieta open houses for the local community. Additionally, thanks to a previous Trails+ grant, we were able to add one of the first adaptive trails in the Santa Fe area through the Route 66 trail that follows the historic path through Glorieta Pass. By expanding our trail network to the south side of Interstate 25 with the construction of the Route 66 trail, we were also able to add adaptive friendly gates and community access points to the trail system for both Glorieta and Glorieta Estates residents that is more accessible than the trailhead on the North side of I-25. Ultimately, the increased public popularity of the outdoor recreation amenities on our property has prompted us to pursue expanding the Glorieta trail system to both accommodate the growing demand and best steward the land to meet outdoor recreation needs in our community.
