The Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance aids the Las Vegas community in restoring and revitalizing the local Gallinas River Park, nurturing personal connections and raising awareness of the inherent relationship between water and land following wildfire and flood disasters. Through an outdoor youth recreation program, it also facilitates experiential learning about birding, field ecology, and fly fishing, employing local experts and offering internships for youth. The objective of these initiatives is to engender water and land stewardship, respect for local heritage, and an insightful appreciation of the river park's ecology, including its habitat for fish and birds, while promoting the importance of local environmental indicators related to global climate issues.

Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance works to · increase awareness of the relationship between the health of our watersheds and a clean abundant and water supply; · support fire recovery efforts by helping private land owners with flood mitigation, soil stabilization, erosion control and seeding to restore plant cover, engaging our community in stewardship of our land and water; and · help to reconnect our community to the natural beauty, natural resources, and outdoor recreation opportunities in our local watersheds.
