Las Placitas Presbyterian Church
Grants Awarded
Las Placitas Presbyterian Church (LPPC) aims to construct a section of the Hike and Bike Trail through their property, providing safe passage away from major intersections in the Village of Placitas, 'Las Huertas Plaza,' and the upcoming Bike Repair Station. The constructed trail, funded by Coronado Soil and Water Conservation District and awaiting FEMA approval, will beautify LPPC's property by including a minor grading, a retaining wall, a location for public art, and a resting spot. The trail will create a significant destination in the village, promoting outdoor engagement and fostering community connections, aligning with LPPC's commitment to serene outdoor spaces and the Safe Routes to School program.
OUR MISSION Living Faith, Loving God and Welcoming All
Las Placitas Presbyterian Church (LPPC) is an inclusive Christian community gathering for worship, prayer, learning, fellowship and spiritual growth for people of all ages. As members of the Body of Christ, we celebrate God’s grace in our lives and seek to extend God’s love and promise through service, outreach, education, music, arts and witness. We are committed to peace and justice in the world, and to care for the earth as God’s gift to humankind. We cherish our origin as an early Spanish village church and honor this heritage in all our activities.
We are Presbyterian in theology and governance, but welcome and support all people as they explore their personal life paths, emphasizing Christ’s word, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” — Matthew 18:20 Community Oriented Collaborations: Las Placitas Presbyterian Church (LPPC) is a unique congregation, grounded in our heritage as a 19th century, Spanish village mission church. We continue to receive newcomers who have chosen to make Placitas their home. We come from many cultural and faith backgrounds, celebrating the common faith that binds us together in Christ as part of God’s family. Our congregation is diverse, including many descendants of the original church founders, free-spirited folks who came to the mountain in the 60’s and 70’s, as well as many families who have moved to New Mexico and now call LPPC their home.
LPPC is an inclusive community, filled with energetic folks who take an active role in creating programs that meet spiritual needs as they arise. We offer a wide range of opportunities for worship, study, small group sharing and personal spiritual development for all ages. Biblically-based preaching and active lay participation support our commitment to peace and social justice issues.
The village of Placitas, New Mexico is located about 20 miles northeast of Albuquerque, at the base of the Sandia mountains at an altitude of about 6,000 feet. Our church serves the immediate Placitas community, as well as our neighbors in Bernalillo, Rio Rancho, Algodones, Corrales and Albuquerque.
Partnerships in the Community: Las Placitas Presbyterian Church (LPPC) has two major partnerships in Placitas, these are our Church supported Casa Rosa Food Bank and Placitas Artists Series, Inc. Both organizations have their own Board of Directors. The Casa Rosa Food Bank opened its doors on August 30, 2008, with eight families being served. The total number of households served in a year has ranged from 108 households (comprised of 175 adults and 61 children) to 161 households (comprised of 237 adults and 86 children). The Placitas Artists Series is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering public appreciation of the performing and visual arts in Central New Mexico. The mission is to present high-quality musical performances and art exhibits in a stimulating setting; to promote regional talent through community involvement in the arts; and to provide outreach programs to our community.
