MANA de Albuquerque, a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit, focuses on empowering Latinas through education, leadership development, community service, and advocacy. The Hermanitas® Youth Leadership program, established in 2000, provides personalized mentoring and training for girls ages 11-17, promoting their personal growth and future career success, while strengthening the local community.
The Hermanitas® program, developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health, empowers young Latina leaders with mentoring and training in health, personal growth, education, career, and leadership, with an enhanced focus on cultural identity. Through Hermanitas® Outdoors, the program will utilize New Mexico's diverse landscapes to enable approximately 30 young people to foster their leadership skills, enhance wellness, and develop a strong environmental ethic. Offering accessible outdoor activities to underserved youth aged 11 to 18 in Bernalillo County, the goal is to transform them from observers to informed, culturally rooted environmental advocates, proving their worth from legislative sessions to university campuses.
