Monte Del Sol Charter School
Grants Awarded
Monte del Sol's Outdoor Learning Program allows students to connect with New Mexico's landscapes, develop life skills, increase environmental awareness, and foster community ties by integrating outdoor exploration with academic learning. The program includes outdoor trips for each grade level, winter skiing, 11th grade cultural camping trips, and measures for equitable access such as an Outdoor Equity Fund (OEF) to cater to students lacking resources. Furthermore, the program ensures accessibility and safety by offering full-coverage of participation costs, providing shared outdoor equipment, covering staff salaries and stipends, and providing trip-related transportation. The initiative aims to instill resilience, leadership, curiosity, and a durable connection to nature, benefiting students both acadically and personally.
