Grants Awarded
The New Mexico Youth Conservation Foundation (NMYCF) empowers local youth by offering free outdoor experiences, equipment, and educational resources, fostering environmental stewardship and physical well-being. By acting as an outdoor lending library and providing recreation education and training, the NMYCF enhances community engagement and promotes healthy lifestyles among young people in New Mexico.
The New Mexico Youth Conservation Foundation (NMYCF) offers free outdoor experiences, education, and equipment to New Mexico's youth, especially to those lacking sufficient resources. As an outdoor lending library and a source of expert training, the NMYCF supports schools, nonprofits, and other organizations in delivering a variety of outdoor recreation and education activities. Beyond offering equipment and training, NMYCF also helps cover other related resources and costs, such as transportation, licenses, educational materials, and assists in hosting outdoor events.
The proposed non-profit program aims to preserve New Mexico’s natural landscapes by teaching the youth about stewardship, community building, and sustainability through outdoor activities like skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and cultural programs. With the focus on education, inclusivity, leadership, cultural respect, innovation, integrity, and service, the program also offers free equipment rentals, adapts resources for youth with disabilities, and secures required licenses and permits. The year-round, hybrid model ensures participation from both urban and rural areas, reaching the most underserved communities, inclusive of all abilities and backgrounds.
