Silver Stallion Bicycle & Coffee Works, Inc.

SSBCW, in partnership with Gallup McKinley County Schools (GMCS) counselors and social workers, seeks grant support to enhance youth development mountain bike DEVO/CLUB Rides programs in schools on the Navajo Nation. This initiative aims to build foundational cycling skills, knowledge, and confidence for students, while fostering community engagement and providing supportive leadership opportunities for coach volunteers. Ultimately, the program aspires to promote cycling as a sustainable lifestyle and sport within the local community.

Silver Stallion's Elementary School Bike Club Program will provide 4th-6th grade students in both Gallup-McKinley County Schools (GMCS) and Central Consolidated School District (CCS) with hands-on, culturally sensitive bicycling opportunities during spring and fall school semesters. The student-centered program, developed in collaboration with school social workers and teachers, offers safe, non-competitive group bike rides reflecting the specific strengths and needs of Native youth across rural, reservation-based school communities. By offering an early positive cycling experience, the program builds a foundation for participation in middle school Mountain Bike Clubs and establishes a continuum of skill development, confidence, and social bonding. Initial program rollout will occur at six schools in GMCS and CCS.
