The Adaptive Vaulting Program offers tailored outdoor recreational experiences to youths of ages 3-17 in Albuquerque and surrounding areas, particularly targeting those with cognitive, physical, sensory, and emotional regulation differences from underserved communities. Through curated interactions with horses and outdoor environments, participants enhance strength, balance, motor skills and social participation, while developing self-confidence and fostering respect for animals and nature. The program, functioning year-round in Sandia Park, New Mexico, utilizes a $20,000 grant to lower participation costs, with funds supporting individual and group adaptive vaulting sessions for around 100 young people, and covering necessary insurance and administrative expenses.

Vaulters Del Sol is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, operating in conjunction with Sol Equestrian LLC, dedicated to providing high-quality equestrian vaulting programs that support physical, emotional, and social well-being. Founded in 2006 by Head Coach and Owner Greta Shryock, Vaulters Del Sol is currently the only registered equestrian vaulting program in New Mexico. Equestrian vaulting is often described as gymnastics and dance performed on a moving horse, combining athletic movement, balance, strength, creativity, and teamwork. Under Greta Shryock’s leadership—bringing over 30 years of experience as a former champion vaulter and professional trainer—the organization has developed programs that emphasize safety, skill development, confidence, and partnership between horse and participant. Greta is also a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, Certified Personal Trainer, and Youth Fitness Specialist, providing a strong foundation in movement science and injury prevention. Vaulters Del Sol offers competitive, recreational, and adaptive vaulting programs serving children and adults of all ages and ability levels. Programming supports coordination, balance, flexibility, self-confidence, responsibility, and stress reduction while fostering teamwork and connection with horses. The organization’s mission is to provide world-class, personalized equestrian vaulting training that integrates comprehensive horse and human training to promote health, fitness, and overall well-being. Vaulters Del Sol is supported through program fees, donations, fundraising efforts, and grant funding, allowing it to expand access to inclusive and adaptive programming across New Mexico.
